See the vision in motion…
Blending ancestral sound with visual storytelling, Griogair’s video projects bring tradition into focus.
OUTLANDER
Griogair’s entry into video-making began with the global success of his Gaelic version of Skye Boat Song, created in collaboration with composer Bear McCreary for the Season 6 theme of Outlander. The video amassed around 2 million views, sparking a new passion for bringing his ancestral sound into the visual realm.
The first video featured here, Tha mi Sgìth 'n Fhògar Seo — a traditional Gaelic song from the time of the American Revolutionary War — continues this cinematic journey. Commissioned by Sony and hosted on Griogair’s YouTube channel, it weaves voice, history, and vision into a striking expression of cultural memory.
LIVE PERFORMANCE
In 2021, Griogair appeared on Channel 4’s Lost in Scotland, performing the traditional Gaelic lullaby Fairy Woman’s Lullaby alongside actor Alan Cumming. The track, produced by Griogair as part of the popular television series featuring Cumming and Miriam Margolyes, marked a memorable moment of Gaelic tradition reaching a mainstream audience. The collaboration sparked an ongoing creative connection between Griogair and Alan Cumming, who remains one of his strongest supporters — and one of several high-level artists Griogair has had the opportunity to work with. His work in film and television continues to grow, bringing Gaelic song and culture to new platforms and audiences.
T.V WORK
Over the years, Griogair’s live performances have commanded stages across the world, blending deep tradition with bold presence. In 2018, he performed the stirring Gaelic anthem Òran don Mharbhairne alongside the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall. The piece was broadcast nationally on the BBC, marking a powerful moment where traditional song met full orchestral scale — a testament to Griogair’s vision of carrying ancestral sound into bold, cinematic spaces. He continues to share videos of live performances, from major past appearances to recent moments — with many more still to come.
